WildAlert is Now Active in Florida!

Florida has had an active WRMD presence since 2013. In fact, WRMD’s very first account was The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife “CROW” on Sanibel Island. We are excited to announce that Florida now has an active WildAlert presence as well.

While attending Florida Wildlife Rehabilitation Association “FWRA” conferences over the last 12 years, our team has had the honor of visiting several Florida rehabilitation organizations. Because of this history with so many Florida rehabilitation organizations, it was the perfect state for our first expansion of our WildAlert project.

There are over 60 accounts in Florida that hold WRMD data and over 30 that have already contributed data this year. In addition, we have imported tens of thousands of historical records spanning over several decades from our users in Florida.

For WildAlert to work well, data needs to be added in near-real time. The map below shows active WRMD user accounts across the state of Florida as well as where animals have been found over the last two years. This expansion and extensive data is all thanks to Florida’s dedicated wildlife rehabilitation organizations and their active involvement in using WRMD over the past decade.

The red dots on the Florida map above show the location of active WRMD accounts. The blue dots show where animals have been found in the past two years.

If you are a wildlife rehabilitation organization in Florida and would like to get involved, we encourage you to create a WRMD account today. It’s free!
