How we handle information collected through this website — and how little of it we collect.
This Privacy Policy describes how The Wild Neighbors Database Project ("we," "our," or "us") handles information collected through our website, https://www.wildneighborsdp.org (the "Site").
This policy applies only to the Site itself. Our software products — including the Wildlife Rehabilitation Medical Database (WRMD), Ceto and WildAlert — are governed by their own privacy policies and terms, which are available within those applications.
Information We Collect
Information you provide to us. If you contact us through the Site (for example, by email or a contact form), we collect the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically. We want to process as little personal information as possible when you use the Site. For website analytics, we use Fathom Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service that does not use cookies and complies with the GDPR, ePrivacy (including PECR), COPPA, and CCPA. Your IP address is only briefly processed during your visit, and we have no way of identifying you from the analytics data we see; as per the CCPA, your personal information is de-identified. We use this software to understand our website traffic in the most privacy-friendly way possible so that we can continually improve the Site. The lawful basis under the GDPR is Article 6(1)(f), where our legitimate interest is the continual improvement of our website. No personal data from analytics is stored over time. Separately, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability purposes.
We do not collect payment information through the Site. Donations are processed by Bloomerang Fundraising (formerly Qgiv), which handles your payment information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:

- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
- Understand how visitors use the Site

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
